I am a bookworm, and as such, I read a lot of books all the time. I really believe that reviews can help both authors and readers. They help authors in giving their books more exposure, and they help readers to discover new books and authors. I mainly review books written by Indie Authors in different genres, but I am open to all kind of review requests.

Birthday Girl

Birthday Girl - Natasha Moore This was a quite enjoyable and sexy read. The story of a woman whose main fantasy is to have a threesome. What she couldn't expect was that someone else knew about that fantasy and, for her birthday, she would get an awesome present. Nicely written, I just found some typos and sentences that could be written differently, but they don't really bother the enjoyment of reading the story. Recommended for a quick read.

Wads - Hard Boiled - Detective Fiction

Wads - Hard Boiled - Detective Fiction - D.e.e.L I read this story long time ago, so I am happy to see it published so now even more people can enjoy it. Written in a way that will make you think of those stories belonging to the noire genre, but with the special touch that D.e.e.L gives to all his stories, you will greatly enjoy this one. Read it to discover what happens when a shy guy and money, quite a lot of money, happen to be in the same place.

Cthulhu's Caresses (Lovecraftian Erotica)

Cthulhu's Caresses (Lovecraftian Erotica) - Amy Morrel I read this book because I like Lovecraft's stories and I felt curious about the title. Lovecraft and erotica? I thought they weren't going to mix well together... and I wasn't mistaken. Not even a bit. The story of a woman who brings Cthulhu back to life following an ancient and mysterious cult. Lots of sex in this story, but of the odd kind. I didn't find it enjoyable or even funny. The writing is not very good either and it needs more edits.

Rhiannon's New School

Rhiannon's New School - Jennifer Campbell I really don't know what to say about this book except for... what's wrong with the author? The premise of this story is all kinds of wrong. A school for teaching girls to be sex slaves? What the hell! The writing is not good either and it needs a lot of editing. It needs a change of topic too!

Amanda's Fantasy

Amanda's Fantasy - Norman Filler This erotica short story is too short to have a full development of the plot. What happens in this story is a bit difficult to believe, so it's hard to get hooked by the story. Besides, the plot is totally predictable. I guessed the ending almost from the beginning. I don't like that in books; I like to find twists that make me gasp and prove that I am wrong when I try to predict what will happen. Enjoyable story, but not good enough.

Charlotte's Web

Charlotte's Web - E.B. White, Garth Williams, Rosemary Wells I don't really read a lot of children's books, but Charlotte's Web has become one of my favourite ones. This book talks about friendship, about solidarity, about bonding with people in need, about sharing and not being selfish. Those are great values and it is important that children learn them since they are able to understand this story. All the efforts that Charlotte make to help Wilbur are admirable and give a new name to what being best friends mean. Who said that animals from different species couldn't be friends? That can be also applicable to people, and it's an amazing thing for children to learn and value. It's not a surprise that this book has become a classic.

Memoirs of a Gigolo - Two: Rachel

Memoirs of a Gigolo - Two: Rachel - Kyra Ishtari This book, once again stealing the title from another very well-known series of books, is as bad as the previous one. What made me give it two stars instead of just one? The editing improved a bit. Just a bit. The writing is extremely bad. The dialogues are boring and repetitive; I found one expression that was repeated around 12 times... in 11 pages! The situations posed in this story are unrealistic and not erotic at all; it is rather disgusting, really.

Again, if you want to read a real Memoirs of a Gigolo, look for Livia Ellis and her amazing series of books.

Memoirs of a Gigolo - One: Melanie

Memoirs of a Gigolo - One: Melanie - Kyra Ishtari When I saw this book, I couldn't believe my eyes. This author uses the same title as a very well-established and popular erotica author, Livia Ellis. I know that sometimes you can find different books that share the same title, and that's fine. What's so wrong about this author using the same title as Livia Ellis' series of books? I have read this book and I don't see the "memoirs" or the "gigolo" anywhere. All I can see is a quite out of taste pornographic story about a sexual encounter between a woman and a male prostitute. I said pornographic, yes, because this story is not erotica at all; it's plain porn.

The writing is not very good, there is a flagrant lack of editing and basic proofreading, and there is no real plot. The characters are stereotypical, cliché, and totally flat. The story reads as if the author has collected a lot of sex-related words and has mixed them up. The result is this story. The male protagonist, who is supposed to be a gigolo, is not telling us his memoirs. He is just telling us in detail his sexual deeds.

So if you really want to read an authentic Memoirs of a Gigolo, look for Livia Ellis. She is the real thing.

The Billionaire Who... (Diary of a Fuckdoll Parts 1-3)

The Billionaire Who... (Diary of a Fuckdoll Parts 1-3) - A. Violet End This story reminded me of Fifty Shades, so I didn't really like it very much. It was an OK read. The protagonists, Lisa and Tristan, have a very complicated, dom/sub relationship. Tristan acts as if he were Lisa's owner, so she has to be at his beck and call. Lisa seems to dislike him, but she struggles about whether she should leave him for good. There are some repetitive sentences, and some situations are a bit too much and definitely sexist. If you are into bonding and domination, this is the series for you. If you are more a fan of vanilla sex, don't read it.

Christmas Hookup

المرأة في الفلكور الكردي - روهات آلاكوم This was a very sweet and sexy story which really surprised me. There is a twist in the plot in the middle of the book that is impossible to foresee. It really was impossible to see that coming, but it was a nice surprise. Elle goes to the Christmas meeting of her old school and there she has an encounter with a hot cowboy. Their steaming hot encounter is quite sensual and the story is very cute. I found a couple of editorial mistakes, but they didn't interfere in my reading or my enjoyment of the story.

Her Mr Perfect Christmas

Her Mr Perfect Christmas - Melissa Jolley I couldn't really get into this story. It didn't make me feel anything at all. It is poorly written and badly edited, and that makes it hard to enjoy the reading. The plot has potential, but it wasn't very well developed.

Collateral Damage: An Annie Ogden Mystery

Collateral Damage: An Annie Ogden Mystery - Frederick Lee Brooke I was sent a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

I have enjoyed this book, which mixes the right doses of mystery, thriller, and romance as to keep you hooked reading while you turn the pages and the hours pass by and then you realise you should have gone to bed long time ago, but you don't care because it was totally worth it.

Annie Ogden is an ex combatant in the Iraq War who works as a sleuth with her boyfriend, Salvatore. Things seem to go in the right direction for the couple, but when Annie's ex-boyfriend comes back, everything is going to get too complicated. How can Annie cope with an ex-boyfriend with stalkerish tendencies and a very jealous fiancé? What if things get even more complicated by a bossy sister and an obsessive brother-in-law? What if we add murder to this? We get a very thrilling book that is worth reading.

We get to see the story told at different points by different characters, so we learn things from different points of views. I don't really like it when books are written using the first-person narrator, but in this case it was very well done and you don't get lost because every chapter tells you who the narrator is. The character development is fine, since all the characters are quite complex and not stereotypical.

I found very few typos and the ones I did find didn't interfere with the reading of the story. However, I predicted the ending when I had read a bit more of half the book, so that's my reason for removing one star (one penguin in my blog).

Tougher Than The Rest (MacLarens of Fire Mountain Book 1)

Tougher Than The Rest (MacLarens of Fire Mountain Book 1) - Shirleen Davies I was sent a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

When Niall and his brothers Jamie, Drew, and Will lose their parents, they have to face the fact they are alone in the world. Unless they travel all the way from Ohio to Arizona so they can live with their nearest relative. Once they get to Arizona, life changes for them. Then the book changes and jumps forwards. Twelve years have passed and Niall is a prosper rancher with a lovely daughter. He meets Kate by chance and they immediately feel their world spin around. Will their paths come across again? Destiny can be very funny sometimes and it can surprise you with the most unexpected things. Romance set in the wild west.

I have enjoyed reading this western romance, and indeed it kept me turning the pages non-stop. However, I found it too stereotypical, formulaic, and predictable. It lacked those plot twists that I like so much, those twists that make you really love what you are reading. Besides, the author tells a lot and leaves very little to the readers' imagination. There are certain parts of the book that I would have liked to be shown, not told.

Typos, missing words and formatting errors make me suggest that the book needs one more edit so readers can enjoy it even better.

Sisters In Love (Love in Bloom: Snow Sisters #1)

Sisters In Love (Love in Bloom: Snow Sisters #1) - Melissa Foster I was sent an ARC of this book by the author in exchange for my honest opinion. The book won't be available for purchase until September 9th, 2013.

I have enjoyed reading this book which is definitely women's fiction without being cheesy chick-lit. Danica Snow is a strong and independent woman who knows what she wants in life. Or does she? When she meets the local playboy Blake Carter, her world will suffer a radical change and she won't be sure about anything any longer. Can she trust him? Can she change enough as to have a relationship? Lots of things to consider and lots of things to change. Danica will struggle with her feelings, while at the same time struggling for being the support that her Little Sister and her biological sister need.

On the other hand, Blake's world is going to suffer a dramatic change too, a change that will make him reconsider a complete change of his attitude towards women. Is he in love? Can he go through Danica's barriers and find a place in her heart? The path won't be easy because he will have to deal at the same time with secrets from a friend and trying to support his friend's family. Things are not like he thought they were, and he will learn that reality can be deceptive. Will all that have an influence over his possible change in attitude?

This book is very well written, and even though it was a bit predictable, there were some plot twists that I couldn't see coming. I love that in a book. I love the surprise, the moment that makes me gasp or exclaim, "What the heck?!" This book has those moments, so they added to the pleasure of reading about the Snow Sisters, self-contained Danica and promiscuous Kaylie. In a way, they reminded me Elinor and Marianne, from Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen, since they show with their behaviour two sides of the human nature: rational Danica vs. passionate Kaylie.

I loved the characters too, because you can see the change they suffer and you can go through the process with them, learning things along the way, just like them. That adds to the enjoyment and it helps to feel close to the characters too. I kind of hated Blake at first, but then I started liking him better, because I could see the struggles he was dealing with.

So it is a very good book if you like strong female characters who are not afraid of doing things and facing the consequences of their acts. Great romance for this autumn.

Memoirs of a Gigolo Volume Six

Memoirs of a Gigolo Volume Six - Livia Ellis We go on knowing more things about Oliver in this new installment of the Memoirs of a Gigolo series. However, the way of telling things has slightly changed in this book and I am not sure whether I like it. It kind of jumps from one place to the other, and even though there is a connection, sometimes I felt that I would have seen things further developed or better explained. In this story, Oliver is getting kind of bored about his job. Every single job in the world can become routine after a while, and being a gigolo, with all those schedules and timetables, can get really dull. One thing that it is very well achieved in this book is that the reader gets to feel Oliver's boredom towards what he does, so we can emphatise a lot with the main character. I missed seeing more about the rest of habitual characters in this book, but I am hoping they will make an appearance in future stories. Very enjoyable book, but my enjoyment got decreased by the amount of typos and by the odd formatting.

Memoirs of a Gigolo Volume Five

Memoirs of a Gigolo Volume Five - Livia Ellis I am a fan of the Memoirs of a Gigolo Series and of its author, Livia Ellis. That's a fact. Why don't I give her 5 stars then? Because I know that she can improve even more. I have loved this book and I think that the mixture of telling in the past and in the present is very well done. Oliver is changing. He is getting more mature because of a better understanding of his past. His adventures in Japan will make him think about past events that will make him understand better what he is doing with his life right now in the present. But his stay with the Samurai won't be what he was expecting and will have an impact in his relationship with Olga. What will happen? Read this book and you will discover it. Trust me, this series is amazing.
